I have also handed out copies of the image to those attending my courses, for the same reasons.

My concern is the proliferation of this image (without attribution of its source or the presence of a direct link) such that it finds its way "anonymously" into publication... thus earning money for a (real) money-grubber.

I would have hoped any responsible blog author (Orthodox Christian or not) would not have used an image without seeking permission first. Googling "Gregory of Nyssa" and searching for images clearly shows the image on my site.

I commissioned the icon a few years ago because of my personal connection with St Gregory, my website makes that quite clear.

Based on your post, I'm going to guess you're quite judgemental?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10661818493732891677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-257904407708870210.post-4517285687618245882008-09-09T05:44:00.000+08:002008-09-09T05:44:00.000+08:00Wow Russell. Any Orthodox Christian should know that theologically speaking that icons are not copyrightable and are not even supposed to be signed, as they are works of the Church and Windows in to Heaven. They are not unique pieces of work for copyright by money-grubbers. Based on that, I am going to guess you bought the image just because you found it "pretty"?Vampire Rabbithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15851654144745629758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-257904407708870210.post-18114987587083703692008-08-23T05:32:00.000+08:002008-08-23T05:32:00.000+08:00You're using an image of an icon of St Gregory of ...You're using an image of an icon of St Gregory of Nyssa taken from my website (http://www.earlychurch.co.uk/aboutme.asp), without having first sought my permission, acknowledging the image is copyrighted, or even acknowledging the source of the image.
