Tibetan Buddhist holidays (also referred to as Vajrayana Buddhist holidays and Tantric Buddhist holidays) (with roots in Tibet) are based on the unique Tibetan lunisolar calendar. The Tibetan New Year begins just after, or a month following, the Chinese New Year. The Chinese month begins on the day of the New Moon; the Tibetan month begins the day following the New Moon.
